But will it actually taste any good?

@cwebber As someone who hasn't eaten meat for 20 years, I'm looking at these companies with some degree of hope.

I think there are two aspects to this: The first is that if they manage to make it like meat, that may convince some meat eaters to try the alternative, which will reduce the environmental impact of meat production.

The more exciting aspect is that at some point they will be able to break out of the bonds of meat taste, and make something completely new and even more tasty.


@loke @cwebber I think it’s a great idea to create a meat alternative from mushrooms. I’ve been vegan for quite a while, and mushrooms definitely satisfy that “meaty” texture. And bonus - mushrooms are a superfood with incredible health & wellness benefits. I’m excited about this!

@Shelly @cwebber I'll definitely try it. I'm not a fan of the texture of meat (one of the reasons I stopped eating it in the first place), so I'm actually going to be happy if they don't manage to perfectly replicate it. 🙂

I also like mushrooms, but living in Asia I obviously eat a lot of tofu.

@loke @cwebber I live in California and I eat a lot of tofu as well. 😉
